Home to the Kota tribe—Kotagiri is a quaint little hill station situated between Ooty and Coonoor. It is quite overlooked yet unspoilt from heavy tourist infestation, leaving the town with envious photo sightings to be captured and carried.

The weather being far more pleasing than its other counterparts in the Nilgiris, its a great place to leave behind all your burdens from the city, take leisurely strolls amidst beautiful landscapes, visit a tea plantations and for the adventure enthusiasts there are a number of trekking and rock climbing options.

Popular spots in Kotagiri include Catherine Falls, Elk Falls, Longwood Shola, John Sullivan Memorial, Rangasamy Pillar. For the trekkers, one can follow the trail towards Kodanad that passes by a beautiful meadow, tea estates and the Moyar River. Late John Sullivan loved the village so much that he decided to leave everything and move to Kotagiri which made him the first European to settle in this Panchayat town.
